The problem
Where the job started
The block steps under the patio door had come loose and had to be taken apart and rebuilt.
What Korvex did
- Take the old steps apart and sort reusable block
- Dig out and rebuild the base
- Lay fabric and set the first course level
- Build up the courses and treads, checking level at each one
How we solved it
The hard parts of this job
Steps move when the base under them settles or holds water that freezes. These were rebuilt from the base up, with every course checked for level.
01The old block, stacked and reused
The steps came apart block by block. The block was stacked beside the door while the base was rebuilt, and went back into the new steps.
02Tight under the door
The steps sit under a sliding door, with a basement window on one side and a wall vent on the other. Each course was checked with a level, and the top tread comes up just under the door sill.
