Basement walls collect years of damage: holes from old shelving and fixtures, patches that never matched, stained ceiling tiles where water once came through. When a basement is finished over a damp foundation, the new wall hides the moisture until it shows up as a smell or a mark on the paint.
We look at where the water came from before we cover anything. If it comes from outside, that is fixed first, and our drainage work covers the outside of the house. Then the walls are repaired, sanded and painted.

What homeowners ask about basements and walls
Can you patch holes and repaint without redoing the whole wall?
Yes. Korvex fills holes and old patches with joint compound, sands them flush, primes them and repaints the wall, so the repairs disappear under the finish. Cutting out and replacing a section only makes sense where the drywall itself is broken, soft or has been wet, which we check before quoting.
My basement has had water in it. Can it still be finished?
Yes, once the water has stopped. Korvex first looks at where it comes in: often it is grading or drainage outside, which is work we also do in Ottawa yards. Finishing over a damp foundation hides the moisture until it shows up as a smell or a stain, so the walls are closed only once the basement stays dry.
Do I need a permit to finish my basement?
