The problem

Where the job started

The narrow side yard was paved with old concrete slabs right up to the foundation wall.

What Korvex did

Remove old slabs, sod and topsoil along the wall
Excavate and shape the strip so it falls away from the house
Place and level a stone base
Install dimpled membrane along the foundation
Compact the base with a plate compactor
Finish with clear stone as a dry drainage apron
Set slabs by hand where the path runs along the wall

How we solved it

The hard parts of this job

A dry drainage apron lets roof and surface water soak down through open stone and move away from the wall. Dimpled membrane lies under the stone, from the foundation out to the lawn.

The dimpled membrane went down in sheets across the full width of the strip, from the foundation to the lawn edge, and the stone went over it.

A door and a window at ground level
A side door and a basement window sit close to the ground on this wall. Where the path passes them, slabs were set by hand right up to the wall.
